I was thinking about taking the Z to the strip after the mods this winter. My best run was a 14.1@101 or something like that. That was basically stock though. I wonder how I'd do with wider tires, an LSD, and nitrous Smile Anyway I would definitely be down for it, but if it will become a regular thing I may have to keep a spare axle or two handy as they apparently like to randomly explode.

i didnt mean no one was setup for it. some say they are not setup for it like a drift is not for drag. but it just takes skill to get clean take off. thats way i want a race what you got. so autocrosser can see if they can do it. i no i can. i have been doing it for years.

Hell, 350Z's aren't meant for drag, but I'd still have a blast if we got a nice group together and went (I'd just need a spare bottle or two). Perhaps we could even get discounts for x amount of people.

I was wondering about this, but assumed it would be near $1k or something for a night...

Re: drag night

Post  Drivessidewayz on Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:36 pm

Well I was wrong. I sent them an email and got a rather quick response:
wrote:
Ben,
Our standard track rental is $165 / hour, with a 3 hour minimum. That price is good for up to 10 cars. Any cars over 10 are $30 each, regardless of time. There is no charge for spectators. Price includes the track with timing, clock operator, and ambulance. Any extras, like additional staffing or traction compound is extra.

Let me know.

Thank You,
Toby Ehrmantraut
Dragway 42

I sent him a follow-up email asking about the additional staffing and I'm currently waiting on a response to that.

Re: drag night

Post  Drivessidewayz on Fri Jan 21, 2011 7:03 pm

Example:

So for the first 10 cars for 3 hours it would cost $49.50 and for the next 10 it would cost $30. If we average them out, it's going to cost $40 per person to have the track to ourselves. I can't say we'd have many more than 20 people interested.

Alternative:

Doing an all day thing, picnic-style. Perhaps charge for food and drinks since spectators are free (Dunno if we're allowed to do that). You figure 6 hours, 11-5 maybe. That's $99 for the first 10 cars and let's say we get 30 more...that's $50 per person.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but if people don't like paying $10 for Autox for an entire night I dunno how we'll sell them on a dragstrip for $50 for about the same amount of time.

We might be able to work out a deal if we bring enough people one night rather than renting out the entire track. Without people pre-paying though I doubt we could arrange anything special.

Yea, that seems like it will be the best option unfortunately. Oh well, perhaps a situation will arise later in the year that will allow it =\

I might be there once or twice, but I'm not big on drag racing. Are you shooting for the 100 club?
