97 talon n/a stalling problems

Post  jakk220 on Sun Jan 23, 2011 3:18 am

ok, so recently my cars engine randomly started cutting out and it appeared that it was shutting off for a split second while driving and the coming right back on. at idol, the rpms drop to almost zero for a split second and then goes back up and occasionally it will stall out. i went to autozone and they pulled the code and it was a 02 sensor (that was there b4 the problem) a MAP sensor and throttle position sensor and engine running lean code.
thinking that it is the venom 400 tuner i have installed cuz its connected to the map sensor and throttle positon sensor, i reset the computer and the problem went away for a few days then came back this time only throwing the engine running lean and the o2 code. although i think its actually tricking itself into thinking its running lean and giving it more fuel that it doesnt need cuz im getting worse gas mileage and a running rich smell
also i noticed a pattern in the engine cutting out, and it does it almost exactally every 2 minuites. just currious on why it might be doing this and any help is appreciated. thanks

Did you try resetting it a second time to duplicate the issue? That's the first thing I'd do if I didn't have a specific idea. I'm not sure how the Venom tuners are installed (if it's plug and play or you have to tap into wiring) but I'd try unhooking that next if it's practical.

Couldn't the o2 sensor be causing the running lean problem?
